Train the Trainer Program
Teaching others the art and science of 4WD has been a great way for Barlow Adventures to build our bench of guides and instructors, and help people stretch their comfort zones.
Although many skills cross over, there is a big difference between a “guide” and a “trainer”:
Guides deliver a fun experience by:
- Chaperoning guests through a trip
- Spotting guests through obstacles
- Sharing history and context of the scenery
- Selecting routes that offer great viewpoints and surprises
Trainers teach skills by:
- Teaching clients how to plan and execute their own trips
- Coaching clients to spot for each other and choose their own lines
- Sharing sources of knowledge and skill-building paths

Learn about the International 4WD Trainers Association (I4WDTA)
The I4WDTA is the leading global authority in 4WD professional certification. Nena Barlow, Owner of Barlow Adventures, is an I4WDTA Master Trainer, and most of our Lead Guides at Barlow Adventures are certified I4WDTA Trainers.
Becoming a member of the I4WDTA is an extensive process that includes a week-long peer review, known as the Test For Certification (“TFC”). Barlow Adventures can provide mentorship, training, and support for candidates who are pursuing their I4WDTA certification and plan to apply for the Test for Certification.
